Now, the problem is that Windows won't load drivers and generally mess up the startup process. I don't believe the problem was caused by a hard disk failure, because the disk is relatively new (cloned 2 years ago) and because I have a 2nd XP boot in another partition which runs flawlessly. It has grown with the years, but it has been running pretty stable and I hope I won't have to reinstall. My OS is Windows XP Pro SP3, which was first installed in 2005.
